Dr. Sony Sierra has been a specialist in infertility and recurrent miscarriage since 2006. In addition to her fertility practice at TRIO, Dr. Sierra and Dr. Carl Laskin run the Recurrent Pregnancy Loss program at TRIO. This program continues to be the largest program in Canada focused on the investigation and management of recurrent pregnancy loss.

Dr. Sierra is also an Associate Physician at Women’s College Hospital where she specializes in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, and an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Toronto.

She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals, and authored chapters in prestigious textbooks, as well as presented papers at national and international conferences. Her current research interests include infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss and implantation failure, and PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome.)

Dr. Sierra is active in the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) where she is the Ontario representative, as well as a member of the Guidelines for Practice Committee. In addition, Dr. Sierra is a board member and co-chair of the REI subspecialty committee of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Toronto. She is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ARSM), including her new role as Chair Elect for the ASRM-SIG group; she is also a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.

Dr. Sierra believes that involvement and participation in these established and well-respected societies will ensure expertise and up to date knowledge that she can pass on to her patients.
